FLIGHTS FROM EUROPE

KIEV AIRPORT

Boryspil International Airport is also the Ukrainan largest with 25 national and foreign airlines operating there. Airport has two runways and four terminals, well connected with shuttle buses. There is also a Zhulyany airport of Kiev, but it mostly handles domestic flights just a few of the international ones. Upon arrival use the green corridor if nothing to declare and the red one if something to declare. There is no metro station on the airport so Sky bus is your best option to the center of Kiev. Bus ticket you can buy at the offices in D terminal of the airport or directly with the driver, costing 50 UAH (approximately 3 Euros). The journey takes less than 1 hour. Departures are from B and D terminal every 20 minutes daytime and approximately every 30 minutes at night. The bus terminates at the Pivdenny railway station, the main railway station of Kiev and then you need to grab a metro to your destination or simply arrange a transfer from the airport and save yourself the baggage hassle.

BUSES

Shuttle buses run between the terminals and nearby hotels. Sky buses stop is on the right from the Southern Terminal and takes you to the Kiev center via “Kharkivska” metro station to the Main Railway station “Pivdenny”.  Sky bus routes and schedules are found here

TAXI

At terminal D you will find the official aerport taxi service operating 24/7 with fixed rate prices. All drivers have passed training on aviation security course and have received certificates in line with the current legislation.Payment is made uporn arrival to your destinations according to the taximeter. Averige cost to Kiev center is about 20€ and last about 20 – 40 minutes depending on the traffic.

CAR RENTAL

Many well known rent-a car companies can be found at the terminal D, Sixt, Hertz, Budget, Avis. You may book oniline, in advance through your favourite platform Booking.com rentals or arrange a car upon arrival.

GETTING AROUND KIEV

Trolley buses (electric buses), buses, trams, metro, manoeuvrable microbuses and minivans (marshrutkas), take your pick of the transport offered in Kiev. Metro is though, the one  recommended. Purchase one way blue token for 2 UAH from the booth attendant or  the automatic dispensers (orange machine located at station lobbies). Tokens are for a single journey so you need to get two in order to come back. Contactless card is your other option that costs 7 UHD and can be topped up at the ticket machines. Monthly pass costs 95 UHD  but unless you plan on spending your days in Kiev transport not recommended for your budget. Monthly passes can be purchased from all token booths.  Once you have your ticket / token continue to the row of gates, insert your token and wait a second for the red light to turn green, don’t panic, seconds seem like hours in those moment, it will turn green. There are three lines you need in Kyiv – M1 (red line), M2 (blue line) and M3 (green line). Refer to the map above. Station operates from 5:45 am until midnight. Taxi is best ordered by phone in advance as on the streets you will not know what and who is driving you.

  • No ice cream allowed
  • Smoking is prohibited
  • No bikes are allowed
  • Filming is not allowed, photography is.
  • No sitting in the escalators
